CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility)


At Belgomilk Ingredients, we incorporate Corporate Social Responsibility into everything that we do.

Belgomilk is a member of the UN Global Compact. In the words of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, “ The Global Compact asks companies to embrace universal principles and to partner with the United Nations. It has grown to become a critical platform for the UN to engage effectively with enlightened global business.”

Belgomilk is also a member of Sedex, the global Supplier Ethical Data Exchange. Sedex is a not for profit membership organisation dedicated to driving improvements in responsible and ethical business practices in global supply chains.

Our factories in Langemark and Kallo, both located in Belgium, operate in accordance with a so-called CSR charter: a concrete list of CSR initiatives and projects. Each year, both factories cooperate with the audit of the Flemish Corporate Sustainability Charter.

Belgomilk’s CSR policy describes our goals, plans and activities as they relate to the so-called three P´s: people (social responsibility and ethics), planet (environmental and ecological aspects) and prosperity (sustainable economic interest of the enterprise).

Planet People Prosperity

Thanks to a range of initiatives aimed at optimising energy consumption, we have succeeded in reducing the carbon emissions of our factories by 30% in recent years.

We are currently working on initiatives to reduce our consumption of drinking water.

Belgomilk participates in the Belgian collection and recycling system for packaging waste, known as Fost Plus. Fost Plus is today one of the most advanced recycling systems for packaging waste in the world.

We buy our cardboard-based packaging materials from suppliers who are certified by the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council). The FSC is a global, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of responsible forest management worldwide.

We maintain sustainable relationships with trusted partners in our markets so that we can offer our customers the highest quality and the best service.

We believe it is important to consult fully with all of our stakeholders and business partners concerning our CSR plans and initiatives.
